Greetings BOIS-
As many of you may know, from the video post over the weekend, I celebrated an engagement party with my fiancee, our friends and family. It was one of the happiest times of my life. Now that the engagement party is behind us, we’re heading to New York, in April to tie the knot. We are very excited.
QBs we want to iterate that Love is possible. And spending your time investing in that love can be very worth it in the long run. Just remember, love is not only about the fuzzy feeling you get when its new, fresh and happy. Having and keeping the love you want and deserve involves much more.
Investments in love.
Invest the time to get to know each other, welcome the space to be a sounding board, while allowing yourself to be vulnerable enough to utilize her in the same way. And vulnerability does not equate to weakness. In fact it takes an extremely strong individual to permit themselves to be vulnerable. It also shows that you’re not one dimensional and in fact are proud of your emotional versatility!
Also, keep in mind, it is nearly impossible (and quite foolish) to try and change anyone, the little things that bug you now will likely bug you years from now. You can choose to accept and be okay with it or speak up and/or decide to walk away. Either way, you’ll have to make the decision, own it and live with it.
Since we live in the south and there is no option for same gender loving marriages we are deciding to go to NY. As a result my sweetie and I thought it would be great fun to have an engagement party here at home. My partner is an avid Classic Movie Buff and I love musicals so it was unanimous that our party should have some of those elements and thus was born our Classic Cocktail Engagement Party theme!!! Black Tie and Evening Gowns all the way!
Guests were requested to don’ Black, White or Black and White, while the two of us wore red (she in all Red and I in Red and Black). It was an amazing night. The level of chic, style and sophistication that filled the room made this QueerBOIS teary-eyed, LOL. Indeed, there were all kinds of beautiful people there, to include many of the BOIS we know and love. Full black on black tux, bow ties and pocket squares, gowns to stockings this night was exemplary of what you can achieve simply by requesting it. One guest told us that he’d “never seen so many beautiful womn in one space before!”.
Enjoy the pics! It was a great night.
Stay tuned for more on love and same sex marriages/unions. There’s a lot of information out there and we’re going to try our best to share what we’ve learned and are learning along the way!
Thanks for your patience while I get back into work mode. :-)
CHEERS!! :-)
